Wifi Motor Control
This prototype project was done as a proof of concept for a inventor who had a "great idea" and wanted to commercialize it. He hired me to create this prototype, but I'm under a non-disclosure agreement about the nature of the project. My task was to control the speed of a DC motor, a stepper motor for accurate position and a stepper motor for accurate velocity through his cell phone. The whole project was done in under a week and for under $100. I used off-the-shelf motors and electronic components, and a breakoutboard and wires I had laying around. I designed the circuit architecture, used an arduino and arduino ethernet shield to connect to Wifi (for WPA encryption). I contacted a computer science buddy to make the website that would take in values for the motors on the user end and spit out the controls for the arduino. This was a fun little project and the customer was thrilled.
