Design of a Dynamic Linear Actuator Test Bed

 

The goal of this project was to design a test bed that will stress and validate a linear
actuator which has been outfitted with the sponsor’s new hybrid roller-screw nut
assembly. Using two prime movers, one highly responsive and the other capable of high
torques, the test bed would produce a wide range of duty cycles to simulate various
applications. In designing the test bed, durability, feasibility, overall costs, and the
accuracy and repeatability of executing tests were important factors for consideration.
The final deliverables of the project included the design of the test bed, as well as
justification for decisions made and recommendations for any future work.
